Vidin district possesses unique natural and historical sightseeings, ecological clear region, mineral springs, possibilities for fishing in the dams of the Danube river, there is a material base for the tourism industry, free working fore and good relationship with the neighboring countries.



Vidin is famous for its picturesque park along the Danube river with historical character and preserved original plan composition a mixture of styles- scenery, baring the character of English parks in harmony with baroque forms of shrubs and vegetation, which shapes a qualities of a new style, determined as a typical Bulgarian. The park follows the shape of the river. There are magnificent sites for relaxation and beaches.
Numerous monuments, architectural fragments, sculpture figures, bronze figures and pottery which are bearing records of the headway of ancient Ratsiaria (Archar), Bononia (Vidin) and Kastel “Kastra Martes” (Kula)in the Epoch of the Roman rule.

The biosphere reserve Chuprene is situated in the district and it encloses 1 439 sites, 12 natural sightseeings and five historical sites.

Popular sites in the district

Baba Vida fortress, which existed in III and IV century in the northeastern part of the roman fortress Bononia.
Magurata (village Rabisha)- 700 rock drawings which are the biggest proto- historical gallery on the Balkan peninsula.
“Kaleto” a system of fortifying equipment on the land and the Danube river.
“Ratsiaria”- remains from a roman town, situated 17 kilometers south of Vidin. The site offers nice conditions for short haul vacations and fishing.
“Krastata Kazarma”- the building was built in 1798 in the place of the old palace of the pasture under the guidance of polish specialists for the needs of the janissary of Osman Pazvantoglu
The mosque and the library of Pazvantogly- which are independent complex build by the independent ruler in 1800.
The Turkish camp “Kolaka”- interesting arcitectural monument from the second half of the XVIII century.
“Belogrdchick rocks”- unique rock formation, situated nearby the town of Belogradchik, of 52 kilometers in southwestern direction of the town of Vidin.
The cultural traditions of the town are popular in the country. Guests are attracted by the painting expositions, sculptures, wood carving and international festivals, national songs and dances and modern ballet.


Vidin offers numerous amusements for its guests depending on their wishes. The art lovers can enjoy the expositions in the art gallery. If you like theater you can visit the dramatic theater in the town. Your kids will also be happy to enjoy the junior puppet theater. If you are visiting Vidin during the summer you will subordinately have the chance to enjoy the sun and beaches on the bank of the Danube river. “Baba Vida” Fortress is situated in the same site. During the summer there is an open stage in the fortress where different musicians, ballet dancers and folklore dancers are performing.
